A have a spot like that (don't play it much now).  I built the central staircase and just about everything else between the two.  They were more spaced out, though.  Best part was that it was mostly limestone, so there was plenty of iron for steel.  I was also playing with the LEGO mod, so I had protosteel as well (which is even better than steel.  I had a field of weapon traps full of protosteel serrated disks >:D ).

A god that insane has to be a woman? I'm not sure if that's offensive or not, but it makes setting up a sacrificial altar for my nobili goblin captives to be far more pleasing a thought.

This reminds me of a really old world i genned once. The first map i embarked on was like this:

HFS
Sand
2 Magma pools
Magma pipe
2 underground pools
Underground river
50ish z levels
Terifying
Chasm
Bottomless pit

Too bad i lost the seed, and since it was a 9X9 map, all the stuff roaming around destroyed my FPS.

Also, i want this seed.
