Guys?

There already is a Warhammer40K MMO. Not a good MMO, but a MMO nevertheless. It's in my first post, and I wanted people to play it.

Anyone here going to create a Bay12Games guild to try and take over that MMO? Is anybody going to review it, point out its flaws, and recommend people not to touch it?

*stares blankly*

I think you've confused the concepts of an "MMO" and a "browser game".  While the latter may in fact be massive, multiplayer, and even online...  that's like putting an eggplant in a goddamn fruit salad.

Browser games are browser games.  That's all they are.  If they have RPG, strategy, etc., the overriding genre is "browser game".

And browser games suck.

REGULAR WARHAMMER =/= WARHAMMER 40K

Did you even click on my link in the OP? This MMORPG is a Warhammer40K MMO.

Browser games can be MMORPGs. It is massive, multiplayer, and online, it is an MMO. That's the whole point. MMORPGs don't need graphics, they just need people. Bah.

And there are good browser games out there. Not off the top of my head, but they're there. And I'll say at least they're much better than WoW.

If you like simplistic Slash and Smash 'em ups.

If I wanted good finishers, I would just buy God of War.

As much as I like Space Marines, what I saw with that game, and if it came out early next year, it still wouldn't be all that great. And, heres another thing.

Third Person. I was sort of hoping for a FPS other than Fire Warrior to play with WH 40K. That or another RTS. And please, don't say DoW: 2...That thing would KILL my PC.

Keep in mind that that's a leaked video of the very first build of the game.  I don't think THQ is even publicly acknowledging the game's existence, and has been C&Ding people who host the video.

It has a long time to improve.

Also, "We call this we call this we call this we call them we call this we call them we call this 'we call this' we call these this calling we call this"

A transcript of the voiceover in that video.

I'm sorry for all those exited for wh40k: sm, but instead of aknowledging it's existence after a few weeks as usual, THQ stopped C&Ding people after a while and act as if it doesn't even exist. The apparent abandonment coincides with a riot on the dow2 forums when somebody apparently analyzed every single pixel and came to the conclusion that the protagonist's storm bolter has one barrel instead of two and the forum population started denouncing it as a "mutilation of the setting"(the only reply i can find in the relevant post that isn't affected by the language filter) as well as demanding a boycot.

In short, 40k fanbois are kneejerking inovationphobes and THQ presumably canned the game to please them.

I don't even see why they have this strong urge to fuck with the setting's fluff so much anyway. Nevertheless though, I really hope they will continue development on this. There hasn't been a decent 40K game after Chaos Gate, and I'm craving for one.

Though I think they'll add in more stuff then what you just saw, because otherwise, though I love Warhammer 40K, it seems like I'd have more fun playing Too Human then the Space Marine game that's coming out.

And yes, the finisher move highlights, which besides giving you more rich backgrounds to look at for a few minutes before moving on to kill the next Chaos Space Marines, doesn't seem like much. I'll likely wait for a friend to tell me how it is before I even think of buying it.

As for the MMO, which is a little more on topic...

I think it won't be so interesting, if it isn't an FPS. If its another Third Person RPG with guns, then screw it, I'd rather shell out a monthly fee for Steam and play some good games that WON'T kill my PC. However, if they managed, and I tell you, I hate MMO's for over-hype and MANY other reasons, to make an awesome FPS Warhammer 40K game, where PVP brings to mind an awesome mass battle like DoW, then I might shell out some money to play.

But usually, as WH Online wasn't all that great in my eyes, games that *should* have been awesome, are far below the mark. MMO's not excluded.

No more RPG crap. Grinding trails. Equipment Sales. And no more goddamn idiotic communities that I just want to drown in a toilet.

WorkerDrone, has spoken.
Keep dreaming. MMOFPSes are impossible with the current equipment. They'd require way more bandwidth than anyone has, and the servers would need processing power that even NASA would envy.
