Brilliant! Use hatch covers to allow the magma in the middle to fall to a retention pool below. Only problem with that tho is you'll need a lot of bauxite mechanisms.... though this is a crazy project after all!

3x10 retracting iron bridges. Only needs one bauxite mechanism per bridge. Uses less iron than the bars on the side would.

I want a movie of this magma cannon, I still don't get how it's supposed to work.  How can you pressurize magma?

Through DWARVEN ENGINEERING.

No, seriously, I always thought magma can't be pressurized?

Actually, I have a video of a magma cannon up. The link to it is earlier in the thread.

Anyway, I'm planning on using iron bridges for this, I just hope my civilization can import the bauxite. Hopefully I'll have this done and a video posted by the end of the day.

Would it be possible to build both a water cannon and a magma cannon, and position the two so that their shots collide in midair, causing the magma to harden and drop on the skulls of anything below?

If so, I need to try that.

There are far easier ways to crush enemies, of course, but what's the fun in doing anything the easy way?

Awesome. I can't get mine to work right yet because of power problems on the map, but I hope I can get it done today.
Not enough power on the map. Windmills won't provide enough and there is no running water. I have abandoned my attempt to create the Moses entrance. I really should check wind levels right away next time. Still, thanks Marko for making it. It's really nice to see my idea used, even if I can't get it working myself.

Man, now I'm conflicted. I was going to put the entrance to my fort at the end of a snake-shaped tunnel leading down into the magma pipe, but the Moses entrance is really damn tempting. The tunnel would have allowed magma to enter the top behind the snakes head and flow down behind invaders, to be pumped out at the bottom, so same practical effect, but not quite as cool. Decisions, decisions...
