What would happen to me if I dropped out of highschool? Just while we discuss dropping out of educational facilities.

On average, you would earn 20k a year. That means you could scrape by in a tiny town with cheap housing, earning minimum wage and getting half of your food from the food bank!

Also, you can try dropping your Class load down to just 1 class a semester/quarter. That can (at some colleges) keep your record going while leaving you enough breathing room to work full time and still get some progress on your degree.

This sounds like a really good idea.

Hm...to be honest I cannot give you any "real" advice, especially since I am from Europe, so I don't know anything about the US.
However, just a hint: I make like ~5500 euros / month [I've calculated this after 4+ years of playing] with playing online poker. I never play more than 2 hours / day.
It's quite easy, if you know what to do, and how to play. If you are interested, just send me a PM, and I will try to explain it.
Well this is not a job or something, but it's a good source of "additional income".  :)

Tormy, are you TRYING to financially ruin him? Poker? COME ON! Gambling is not the best way to earn money. Only do it if you're good at it. But over time, the average will get better, profits will shrink... You know where this is going.

Sure. Go ahead and gamble if you want. But never spend more than you're willing. Allocate yourself a poker budget and reset it each week or something. If you made a profit that week, good. If you lost close to your budget, STOP PLAYING until next week. Stick to this plan and it will psychologically help you be awesome.

Actually at minimum wage he probably wouldn't even make that. I seem to recall making around $25,000 the year before I quit my job to go back to college. I was making about 11-13$ an hour (regular pay plus incentives) and doing 10 hours of OT  every other week. Only reason I could quit was because I have a very loving and supportive fiance.

Try taking a course per semester until you get back on your feet. It can be hard to get back into the swing of things and you're better off just going continuously.

No, not at all...which  is why I said, "if you know HOW to play". You cannot loose money in this case, and I am not kidding...but I won't explain it here, because it's not really allowed to play like this.  ;D [..and no, I am not talking about cheating/hacking or something like that.]

There's one fail-safe method to never lose money. But you need deep pockets and time for it. Or just bet small. Then you only need time.

Let's say you bet $10 per hand. If you win, yay for you. If you lose, increase it to $20 per hand. lose on that? Increase to $40. Lose on that? Increase to $80. So on and so on. Until you eventually win. Then return to $10. Keep doing that, you'll never lose money if you can recoup it in the same session.

Like I said, this only works if you actually have the money to gamble. Starting with $1000 on this method works best. Always have a reserve in case of a losing streak. Minimize your losses by knowing how to play.

For a start, thank god for state education. I'm glad I won't have to go through anything like this when I get into university.
Personally, I wouldn't gamble. It's a damn fine way of making someone else richer.

There's a guy I worked with in the surveying business for a while who only surveys because he needs something legitimate to put on his taxes.  He makes three to four times as much from online poker.  What he does is he has five different machines sharing one internet connection, then he somehow arranges things so that he's in a room with all five accounts.  Somebody comes into the room thinking they're playing against five dudes, but they're playing one guy with five accounts who can see all five hands.  Invariably, he wins, whether by getting better cards or just by buying every hand.  This is technically against the TOS for most online poker sites, but he pays for five account subscriptions, so they've never given him any grief about it.  He makes a five-figure income from surveying and a six-figure income from beating people who think they're good at online poker.  I don't know which poker site he frequents, but I've seen the setup he's got with five desktops side by side with five different accounts all in the same room, just waiting for some sucker to come in.

I don't know if this is what Tormy's talking about.  I've also heard of some nefarious things you can do with packet sniffers and the like, but that may be just rumors.

Poker is a statistics game. If you know your statistics and play with poor players, you will make money in the same way that a casino will make money on gambling. But.. it's risky, obviously. And playing no-limits will get you burned, easily. With limit poker, it'll be slow, like earning a wage, but you get like on average $5 per 10 minutes if you're really patient.

Nop, my method to make money from online poker is completely different.   ;)
[PS. I think that this method, what you've posted about is not 100% safe. Extremely bad luck = -1000$]

It's 100% safe as long as you can keep playing. Extremely bad luck is unlikely.

1) Even if you have all the money in the world you would eventually lose it all.

2) Poker doesn't allow for this betting style.

3) This is absolutely horrible advice and you are a terrible person.

Do Not Listen To His Betting Advice!!!

Poker doesn't allow this? Well IIRC, it's roulette advice. I just assumed you could bet that way in Poker too.

Pardon. Made an educated guess based on previous knowledge. I should never do that?
