Now don't get me wrong, but you simply CAN'T compare the two. It's not possible, they are two different games with two different sets of rules, and doing what you suggested would (nearly 100% of the time) send you home completely penniless, no matter how deep your pockets are.

What you basically did, was you took a pineapple, and surmised based on your knowledge of apples, that a pineapple's skin is smooth, soft, and it's innards crunchy. Which is not the case.

Poker doesn't allow this? Well IIRC, it's roulette advice. I just assumed you could bet that way in Poker too.

Eh no, you cannot. This method only "works" in roulette/blackjack/etc. [Note: Actually playing these kind of games is the biggest mistake...you will loose all of your money eventually.]

I was lurking and read this thread and had to register to post because I emphasize with you and want to give you information on the military because I think you don't fully understand it and it might be a good choice for you.

You don't have to be in a combat career to join the military. There's four branches of the US military: the army, the marines, the navy, and the air force. If you join the army or the marines, you probably will be in a combat position and be sent to the middle-east. However, the Air Force only has 3 combat careers: combat controller, security forces, pararescue, and the HUNDREDS of other jobs aren't combat-related, and since you're a smart college student, you'll ace the ASVAB (test you take when enlisting) and get to pick your job. I joined the Air Force after my parents divorced when I was 17 and I became homeless, and it was the best choice I ever made. Boot camp was hard, but once I'm done at the my tech school, I'll live on an Air Force base, working from 6 AM to 3 PM, and the rest of it is free-time. I get paid $1500 a month and that's raw income because all my living expenses are taken care of (food, health insurance, etc). They also have student loan repayment programs, and if you still want to go to college (recommended), tuition is free. The Navy also doesn't have many combat careers (can't tell you how many, I don't know a lot about the Navy). If you like the military and make a career out of it, you can retire in 20 years with a massive check sent to you every month (like 75% of your highest paycheck, can't remember), but if not you can serve your 4-year enlistment and then you get this amazing thing called the "GI bill" that basically pays most of your rent and helps with tuition.

I'm not saying you should join the military, I just want you to be educated on the option. Only thing is you can't join if you have asthma. Also they will yell at you in boot but it's to build discipline, just say "Yes sir" to everything, listen to directions, do what you're told, get in shape, and you're good to go.
