Speaking of MS paint (Virex didn't actually refer to it as MS paint, btw ;)) any tips for texturing my models on blender? Admittedly, i haven't tinkered with it that much, but is there any really idiot-proof way to do it? like, unwrap a model (or part of one), and export a picture with each face outlined in black, ready to be filled in?  ;)

No, i'm not that naive, i'd be shocked it that could actually be done in blender. But seriously, any tips for actually aligning textures on meshes?

Well, you can set the texture to wrap in a bunch of different ways (cube, plane, cylinder, etc) and then to the right, there's a window allowing you to adjust the texture all around the model.

Also. This.

Lost some quality by converting it to gif... but I'm still quite proud of it.

Someone's figured out how to use particles, I see. :)

Not bad. Pretty obviously not real, of course -- everything's too regular, from the logs to the ground to the flame itself -- but you have a good start here. There's lots of tutorials out there for making flames using particle systems; I recommend checking one out. You can do a ton of really neat things with particles once you're willing to get complicated.

I've toyed with particles off and on ever since i started playing with blender, that was the first project with a goal in mind tho.

Thanks for the tips, but i'm rather happy with it as it is for now.

I've done this:

I'm thinking about making an animation of several ships flying in and being shot at before blowing up,after adding another cannon.

Explosions, especially animated, are tricky to make. But it'll be a good learning experience! So go for it. :)
