Dark Diamond interview
« on: April 17, 2009, 03:04:36 pm »

I did another podcast thingy a while ago, for Dark Diamond.  As usual, I ramble, and there were some problems with the sound, and I haven't listened back to it for all of the horrible things I said, as I sometimes do, but here you go:

Official first part:

Rambling after time that didn't get posted:

Haha, the brutal truth.

"So say this version comes out sometime this year.  I really don't know when it's going to come out, but say sometime this year.  That'll most likely happen, even if I have to delay stuff."

Interviewer: "So your main goal with DF is just to create a living 3D world."
Tarn: "That's right, without it being an MMO."

"We're basically trying to capture the worst fantasy plots."

Also that's at least the second interview with bizarre inquiries into not only your sleeping habits but your eating habits.
(the first one was my fault, I made a flippant remark about ramen ages ago when somebody was collecting questions in the SA forums)

e: goddamn the second part is over 100 minutes

Only 4 minutes in, but I find it hilarious so far. Toady's downplaying the game.

For anyone who can't stand all the cut-outs: they go away in part 2, 63 minutes in.

That still means two hours of it is afflicted!   But they're not that bad, I don't think.

Anyways, nice work as usual, Toady!

Mysteriously, there are a lot of drop-outs when he speaks of the month-end project.

ARG drives me crazy!  I am a entrepreneur at heart (Ran my first business selling lunches out of my backpack during high school) and the fact that Toady isn't capitalizing on this more is driving me c-razy!

At least get some help with coding it so you can get it done before 2025.

I love near the beginning when he's trying to figure out when version 1 would be out and he's doing the math.  Dude yer supposed to be a math teacher! :D

I am just fine with the progress as it is. What I want to see though is.

Toady has baby pics of himself?

Nah, that would be too weird to see. There are some times we go too far, and I can respect privacy Toady would want to keep.

I found it funny that the interviewer at times sounded as nervous/excited as I would be if I were interviewing Will Wright or Gabe Newell.

... Or Tarn, actually.
