So I've been making and melting things in order to level up my weapon and armor smithing professions (I know its a net loss, but I've got copper poring out my ears so its ok). My question is, my weaponsmith recently got "very unhappy" and the only negative thought listed is "has suffered the travesty of art defacement". Does melting masterpieces cause this or did someone else fuck up when of his master copper picks?

Yes, melting masterpieces does that.  Try not to push him to the breaking point.  He must not have made that many masterpieces -- once they've made a lot, they don't care much about a couple getting melted.  Supposedly.
