I was playing some of the trialware games that came with it, and noticed that there were several irregular blotches where the color was just a tiny bit lighter than the rest.  These are very faint and almost invisible if you're not looking at a moving screen(For example, moving around in a game with a birds-eye perspective.  They seem to move around occasionally, but I've never seen one do it.  I'll just notice that they've moved.

Does anyone know what this is?

Oh, that's just evil. It follows people around sometimes. Might I suggest spraying holy water from a super soaker?
The possible sparking is the proof that the evil is being purged.

Sounds like a terrible quality LCD screen. Your warranty should cover it.

I'm gonna show my lack of education when it comes to these modern thingamajic screens. I'm keeping my tan with a large array of CRT screens here.

Anyways... it cant possibly be caused my magnetic fields in those TFT thingies, can it? I guess not, but what about heat?

Maybe it's just some outside influence or something that points to another problem. Or maybe it's just a crap screen and you should ask for a replacement

My brother's macbook was once fully submerged for about twenty minutes (and survived!) and when we felt it was moderately safe to turn it on again and things were dried out enough, it kind of had blotches in the monitor. Most of the monitor was darker with certain bright spots that would shift but not very obviously. Perhaps you have some less severe version of this. As to a solution, he just dealt with it as best he could, 'cause the repair shop said he would need a new monitor.
That same laptop has since had it's hinge busted so the laptop has lost portability, but that thing is still alive.

Hmm.  Well, the splotches are barely visible, and since they don't seem to be doing anything sinister, I think I'll just ignore them unless they become more obviously apparent.

Do they react in any way like when you touch the lcd screen with your finger?

Sounds like pixel errors. [It's static, and won't move btw] You cannot do anything. Take the laptop back to the store, and replace it.

Sounds like pixel errors. [It's static, and won't move btw] You cannot do anything. Take the laptop back to the store, and replace it.

My laptop had two pixel problems, One went away with a lil tap, the other went away with a noise animation.
