I'm not sure that its man's tendency to learn quickly that makes him cling to his original notions.  I learn preposterously quickly, and while I usually react violently to ideas that I disagree with, there are a lot of things that I have revised, established, or reversed my opinion on.

In fact, that seems to be a tendency of lower minds - accepting X on the grounds that it seems to be the case, without asking why.

Oh, on that, it's man's ability to absorb information really quickly that makes him cling to things. Eventually, smarter people learn the whole "what fact is true? do i even exist? i think therefore i am" philosophy thing. But those who are below that level, will always cling to their original beliefs.

I think it also explains why adults learn things slower than babies, because of that resistance. A baby can learn to speak Chinese in just 2 years. Can you?

Sure. If I dedicate my resources to it, I'll speak Chinese in a year.

Hell give me 3-6 more months and I'll write too.

Problem is, I like having fun. Playing L4D. Learning stuff other than Chinese.

So yeah. I COULD. But WOULD I?
