Killing pet kitten
« on: May 05, 2009, 03:10:37 pm »

ok I already killed the owner (applied magma to him, with little to no repercussions as he wasn't friends with anyone) but when I go to the animal screen, I still can't select it for butchering :(

help? oh and don't say apply magma as my magma death chamber is quite far from my main fortress in this case.

I think it'd be better to just throw him in a pit.
By pit I mean "ledge designated as pit some 30 levels above the ground water magma" and that would,as they say be the end of that.
Unless a sword/axedwarf gets to 'em.. then it's rhesus pieces...

hm... ok.. make a pit in your magma chamber.. capture small animals and release them in there.

i did this with cave spiders because i wanted to farm silk. every cat showed up outside the damn room and waited for the weaver. once she came they stormed my poor spiders and had a feast.

imagine my fury when i found the corpses causing miasma in the friggin beds. the devil cats put my pet spiders IN THE BEDS!  >:(

well it seems that I had to wait for the corpse of the kittens owner to burn away then I could select the kitten for slaughter.

So that's how it is. You know I remembered targeting an owned and wounded war dog for butchering but I didn't say anything since it was a long time ago and I wasn't sure ... the dog got wounded protecting his master by the way. Clearly wasn't enough.

War dogs are butcherable even when they're assigned; they're nice that way.

So ... I can ... find that annoying dwarf who loves dogs ... and assign him 20 war dogs.. and butcher them all, sending him into melancholy?

WONDERFUL!
