Can you post the entity and creature files for the hobbits?

Also, what exactly do you mean by "isn't working?" Are they just not trading with you?

And this file host is better for DF-related things.

Add [OBJECT:CREATURE] to the top of the creature file, and [OBJECT:ENTITY] to the top of the entity definition file. Otherwise the game won't know what they are.

Also, I'm not sure why you made them so excitement-seeking. Aren't hobbits supposed to be pretty much the opposite?

You're also going to want to take some of those weapons out of their entity file. They're too small to even use stuff like mauls anyway. They also seem surprisingly lenient about murder. :P

Hmm they don't come up on the civ screen before embarking

You did give them CAN_CIV tag, right? If so, then maybe they're getting crushed in world gen. Have you checked the legends to see if they are in there?

Yea they have the CAN_CIV tag, but there is no trace of them in the legends.

Funk load of human though.

This is the latest non working version: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=5480fdbd26246eb8d2db6fb9a8902bda

Er, which one is the latest? I see three uploaded on the same day.

Oh, and you don't need all that [CAN_CIV] and [CAN_SPEAK] and stuff. Just add [INTELLIGENT]. Use the existing raws as a reference.

Speaking of which, the existing raws also all say the filename on the top. I don't think it actually matters, though.

G-flex has already given you the answer, but you seem to not have applied it.

add

creature_hobbit

[OBJECT:CREATURE]

to the top of the creature hobbit file, and

entity_hobbit

[OBJECT:ENTITY]

to the entity hobbit file. This was enough for me to get them appearing at embark after a regen.

-Although, as an aside, your hobbits are:

A) incredibly excitement seeking. is this intentional?

B) prone to depression, and rarely cheerful. again, surely that's unintentional

C) Using weapons (like the maul) which they cannot use due to size restrictions.

D) Very lenient in terms of ethics for a 'peaceful and good' civ. By having them make trophies of other sapients, you will have them making bracelets and earrings from their fallen foes (goblins etc). There's a few others in there too.

Works perfectly when I inserted them.

Or at least they show up at embark. Didn't go further than that.

Speaking of which, the existing raws also all say the filename on the top. I don't think it actually matters, though.

This is actually essential, and the lack of it will cause the game to not recognize the file as surely as if you didn't have [OBJECT:CREATURE] at the top.

While experimenting with lycanthropes, I discovered the game doesn't seem to handle multiple civ races well.  Have you checked that?

I've done all that, your probably looking at the wrong one, and also stop going on about ZOMG YOUR HOBBITS ARE DEPPRESSED because it is my first time and i am experimenting. This is the latest one: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=5480fdbd26246eb8d2db6fb9a8902bda

I've downloaded a new DF and added my hobbit mod and the Orc mod (which rocks btw) and i still can't find any trace of hobbits anywhere, not even legends.
