Except for Toady.  There's no downside to DF.
... Until somebody actually starts worshiping Armok.

Emo people have been doing it for years.

And you should know what would happen if some emo kid were to start messing around with deathtraps, magma and kitten slaughtering.

 Prepare for television coverage!

Emo teenager: Emo is a typecast for depressed kids who whine alot and take sad pictures showing their mental strain over how hard it is to work at a videogame store when all they want to do is sit in a darkened corner and cut themselves. Nothing but their own low self ego makes them emo. Usually suburbanite, upper-middle class white adolescents.

Ya, f*ck the world indeed!  ;D

That's an incorrect observation. Emo kids don't have the balls to do any of that stuff.

Thanks you guys, really helpful so far.  I think I might be able to write a script that undoes whatever this other script is doing, but I'm not exactly sure how it would be doing it.  I assuming it would be with some sort of stylesheet, but trying to change the img's style to anything other than display=none, doesn't have much of an effect.

I can't imagine that, short of a few specific Firefox addons, a JavaScript file could be causing this.

Did you try loading the Bay12Games forums in a different web browser?

Did you try loading the Bay12Game on a different computer, with your same forum account?

Does this happen if you are not logged in?

And:
Did you check the option in your profile to disable avatars?

EDIT: The thing is that JavaScript files can't just load themselves into pages of their own volition. They have to be referenced on the page or placed inline somewhere. It is possible to have the web browser run a custom script, and if that is true, temporarily switching web browsers should stop it.

PS: I apologize in advance if Karlito turns out to know an awful lot more about JavaScript than me.

It only happens on Firefox on this computer, and it doesn't matter if I'm logged in.

That was the first thing I did.

This is why the situation is so puzzling too me.  I can't figure out why Firefox would be doing such a thing.  Its not like all images are gone, only the ones that have the class="Avatar" attribute.

Sounds like it might not be a script issue, but maybe a custom style-sheet? I'm not that familiar with CSS, but i do know the class attribute is commonly used with styles.

Try typing "firefox -p" into run. Make a new user profile and see if you still have the problem.

If that fixes the problem migrate your old bookmarks and extensions to the new profile, and delete the old one.

Right, but disabling javascript makes the problem go away.  The javascript is somehow tampering with the stylesheets.

This would only work if I was using Windows.   :(

Alright, sorry.

Close the application completely and make sure that it is not running in the background. Assuming the program is installed in the "Applications" folder, launch Terminal ("Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal") and enter the command starting with / after the prompt in Terminal:

    * (Firefox) /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -profilemanager
    * (Mozilla Suite) /Applications/Mozilla.app/Contents/MacOS/mozilla -profilemanager
    * (SeaMonkey) /Applications/SeaMonkey.app/Contents/MacOS/seamonkey -profilemanager
    * (Thunderbird) /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird -profilemanager

If the above command doesn't work, try again, but include -bin as shown in this example for Thunderbird:

    * /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin -profilemanager

Try this to access the user account manager.

See, it's more like sticking it to the man with superior firepower.

IE is made by Microsoft. A corporation. IE is inferior to Firefox. Firefox is free and made by the people.

Basically, we're the good kind of communists. the kind that works.

Firefox is made by the Mozilla Corporation. IE is also free and made by people.

Life isn't black and white and good and evil. Microsoft isn't evil and Mozilla isn't holy.

Every person is different and should use the software that fits their own unique needs, and they should not be criticized because someone disagrees with them.

The day someone starts using a certain kind of software because of a philosophy or moral choice, is the day they forgot what computers are: Tools.

Disclaimer: I use Firefox on Windows XP, Firefox on Windows Vista, Firefox on Windows 7, and Firefox on OpenSuse.

Mozilla Corporation is actually a separate entity from the people who program the software, all of the programs that used their name are Free and Open Source.
