A Bay12 server with the objective of building an underwater city could be interesting.
It sure would. But what stops people from turning into hermits, as they usually do on Bay12 servers?
Well, if there's an objective to build a single underwater city, that should at least encourage people to work together.

"No," says the man in Washington, "it belongs to the poor."

"No," says the man in the Vatican, "it belongs to God."

"No," says the man in Moscow, "it belongs to everyone."

I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different.

I chose the impossible.

I chose...

Rapture.

If someone started a server with Direwolf20 or something, I'd join. Not quite willing to build anything underwater because it's a pain, but supplying the stuff for it would be fun.

The reason I suggested this is because the patch added a new structure that creates an aura of waterbreathing and water-vision within a generous area, as well as enabling normal mining speed. This seems like it might make underwater construction much more practical.

Heh, I've been running DW20 with mekanism ontop of it. I need to adjust some recipes for the mekanism smelters but I've been swimming in ingots. I love mekanism.

The only thing I've seen to prevent that with us lot is Forsaken's old progression server, and that was because building away from the city was strictly forbidden, and mods were "unlocked" by communal projects such as building a town hall, or a library.
Even then people lost interest, drifted away, etc within a week or so. We're a fickle lot and getting people to focus on anything seems challenging. Almost every time I've hosted up a server it's lost interest within a week or two. Actually the longest lived was the Eco server, some people played for almost the full month.

Now that I don't have a job, me and my brother can be on a lot of the time. That's two people.

I'd be willing to join an underwater building Minecraft server. I might even be willing to switch back to vanilla, since multiplayer kind of adds a certain additional level of depth that compensates for it.

I'd like to join a fairly stable server as well.
I do like it when everyone sticks together for a common goal.
But I do prefer to play in short bursts rather than long sessions, otherwise I tend burn out on games like this.

And I'm still lurking around, if you need one more builder. :)

So, are we actually doing this thing? If so, who's starting the server?

What do people want? Vanilla, 1.12 pack, the one solitary 1.13 pack that's already on Curse?

I make no promises - I may need to do some resource allocation shenanigans on my server to get something running.

1.13 is the update we are talking about, and could be interesting in vanilla if we all work together.
