Elliott_Thinas:
I've heard stories of players encasing enemies in obsidan by placing them in a water pit then pouring lava in, then mining out the enemy. I have a map with a brook and a magma pipe, but the best news is I captured an Elven macelord/Local leader in the service of the goblins. I've got a few questions about this.
1. Will the enemy survive being made into a piece of rock? (I want him to)
2. Can I mine out the obsidan and what will happen with the enemy embedded into it?

Jim Groovester:
He'll be dead. His corpse and everything he had on him at the time will be perfectly preserved, however.

You were faster.

You end up with a peice of obsidian.  Obsidian is quite hot when it first forms.  Dude gets annihilated.  Don't know if the block is special when you mine it out.

Indeed. You could almost say, that I shot first.
