700+ tentacle beasts attack a town?

I think we all know how that turned out.

Yes. They all had tea and then parted amicably.

Dwarf Fortress, the only game that has random peasants become nightmares of combat consistently.

I'm most impressed with the fact that that was the 77th rampage in that town.

In 40d I once had a war that lasted for 2000 years. The cause of the war was an act of theft (I guess something like "They stole prickle berry! That means WAR!").
The war was between a human and a kobold civ, and consisted of more than 100 battles that all followed one scheme:

1. humans attack
2. kobolds flee into the jungle
3. kobolds come back
4. a pause of around 20 years
5. back to step 1

Nobody was hurt in this war, for 2000 years...
"Sometime they’ll give a war and nobody will come"  :D

I had one game where the gobbos were wiped out completely by year 5.

The poor greenies had managed to get on the wrong side of about 6 megabeasts, who proceeded to wipe out their only fortress completely.

I went there in adventure mode. A pair of dragons were still hanging about.

As of the whole stingray thing, I remember seeing a lot of 'bat rays' in deeper pools on 40d. I don't think they were excluded as such at all.

202 elves vs 46 humans...
Reason..."Display of war and hunting trophies". I already can imagine it.

"One upon a time, a human visited an elf friend. Few seconds of talking with him, the human showed his friend the head of the bear he just killed. Next thing known is that the elf stabbed his friend to death and declared war to humans. HURRRRRRRRR ! YOU KILLED A BEAR, DIE HOMMIES !"

What.

My latest world has forces of seven humans, goblins and dwarves holding of over two hundred elves in a siege.

I repeat. What.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

well, if anyone tried to attack the dwarfs, the attacking army would just be flooded with magma. that, or if the dwarfs felt like doing something different, they would dig under random human cities and sink em into the ground

I hope I wasn't the only one who thought: "Anya, they're SINKING CITIES WITH A GIANT... FORCE OF DWARVES! SERIOUSLY, THEY'RE ALL TOTALLY DRUNK OUT OF THEIR MINDS AND THEY HAVE BEAAAAAAARDS!"

Can someone mod in chainsaw bayonets for crossbows please?

Chainsaw bolts would be much better.

I think this deserves a bump.

I once had a world in the wasteland mod where the entire world had only one race: Mutants.

They wiped out the wastelander and vault dweller civs very early somehow, and there is only a few raiders left. The mutant all live on the border of an all evil tile mountain in the direct center of the world.
