For big dogs, I like German Shepperd and Husky the best. Can't have one due to budget and space constraint, though.

I guess the answer is: yes.  Those dogs are insane indeed. My mother had a fox terrier, and that dog was well....let's just say that he was very weird.

- Cairn Terrier
- Border Terrier

I'm not a dog person, but I'd say definately go for a shorthaired version.
longhaired dogs are disgusting!
Though chiwawa's are awfull too. Don't encourage breeder/pushers to breed these poor creatures by buying one.

All dogs are pretty disgusting to me though, so what do I know.

Don't get one of those mini-"dogs". They yip 24/7 and have the memory of a goldfish. Don't get one of those huge shepherding dogs types that is taller than you when it stands on it's hind legs. They are expensive to feed and can be obnoxiously hard to control because of their size. Don't get one of those pit-bulls or rottweilers. Lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't get one of those generic medium sized dogs like a golden retriever. Many are prone to varying health problems or conditions and will still eat their own shit. Don't get...

...hell. Just get a cat. They are cleaner, tidier, and more reserved. But because you really want a dog: Go to the library and pick up a book on dog breeds. It will tell you more than anyone here ever could.
