2D arena shooters

After seeing a thread on Hedgewars and getting it confused with a different game (listed below as Teeworlds), I thought I should draw up a list of games from this genre. The two games most members of this forum are likely to be familiar with are Gang Garrison and Soldat. The remaining two give nice twists on the genre, Stick Soldiers being comprised of stick figures messily blowing bits off of each other and Teeworlds being more of a real-time Worms style, ninja rope and all.

Soldat
Gang Garrison
Stick Soldiers and its sequel(s)
Teeworlds

For a bit of a change, there's Counter-Strike 2D, by the maker of Stranded and Stranded II. Instead of a side-view shooter, this one is top-down.

Abuse was the game that first made this genre truly viable, in 1995.

Great fun in multiplayer to pick up the invisibility booster, hide in an area with a complex background where your outline is hard to see, and spear people with a lightsaber when they run by.

Still, I got high latency just because I'm in the Other Part of the World. :P

Soldat is a pretty fun game.  :D We should fire up some MP games!  ;)

Soldat was soo fun they made a clone of it except using Team Fortress as a guide.

I dislike some of the changes they made in Soldat... The Turrets were fun to use...

I used to play way too much Soldat. Now I play way too much Gang Gar.

Babo Violent 2 is of the top-down variety, seemed fun but I never got really into it.
