How can i set fire in adventure mode?

Once you have a fire, you can put flammable things (like bodies, clothes, furniture, or yourself) in the fire. When they have a !!tag!! around them, you can pick these up and move the fire to other locations. I'm just going to warn you, unless you ditch the fiery objects soon you may have a lot of fun on your hands.

Get a waterskin, use I (capital i) on a river to fill it up, then eat the waterskin.

You can also drink directly from a clean river or clean temple pond (some ponds actually worship murky water to represent slime though so watch this) the same way with e. Another note; you cannot normally drink murky water (water from ponds and murkey temples) UNLESS you are thirsty. Of course, you're probably not going to be drinking unless you are thirsty so murky water for most purposes is just as good. Finally, if you've been swimming, you can sometimes drink water off your armour and weapons, also via 'e'.

I also had the option to drink blood off of my weapons.  I didn't try it.  Does it have unwanted effects?

As far as I'm aware, blood is like murky water - you'll only drink it if you're dehydrating.
