I've decided we're going to suspend our construction of the ship for the meantime, and solely focus on our fortress at hand. We're losing surrounding resources (at a safe distance to obtain them), and we have much ore to process anyhow. Furthermore, we currently have issues with the locals in the area. We'll be expanding our military to be something rather useful. We'll try to process the ores into something we can fight and protect ourselves with. As well, we're going to manufacture ourselves some traps to make use of, despite the limited resources. We'll let them come to us, instead o
f us coming to them.
Something tells me this will work for our better. BTW, it's high time we work on our accomodations, seeing as we're stuck here for longer than I thought.
-------------
It seems Rigoth Onuldegel (MirroredGalley) has decided to work on something; as if he's possessed by a mysterious force... With occurances going on as they are, I'm not shocked. I've been hit with it too. Maybe it was an old friend.
Hmmm...
Well, That's... a thing. A... puzzlebox? Really? it's made of diorite, encrusted with diorite, and encircled with bands of chestnut, and there are three prickle berries upon it in diorite. Now if I'm not mistaken, my appraisal skill values this as junk only
worth 4800☼. Worthless piece of-- :pats Rigoth on the head:.
Anyway, progress report. We have suspended construction o the Bloodfist in order to let the land grow out a bit, and in the meantime, I hired our engravers to make our living quarters a little more pleasant. So far, it looks nice. We also took the opportunity to install more tables and chairs, seeing as we have many complaints about such a lack. The dining room shall now be more suitable for numerous dwarves now. Speaking of suitable, and defense; as an order for protection, our hatchway to the surface is being covered right noe with a bunker. It should encourage some rangers to be trained, as well as forc
e invaders to go through a gauntlet before reaching our food sources. If our guys won't balls up and defend for themseves, then at least build some gorram traps.
After the loss of our resident bear, I've decided a kennel should be in order as well to train more war pups to guard the hatch, or at least warn us in the future of any wrongdoings. Our sheriff can do so much.
Oh, do you remember that strange heat source I talked about ages ago? Well, I had the urge to explore it further, but from a different angle. I recall a silver wall was a bit warmer and maliable than the rest previously mined. I took the risk and broke it open. Lo and behold, there's a pool of magma inside. From the looks of it, it's not as dangerous as the pipe spotted way above. It's shallow, so I don't think we can get too much use out of it, but nonetheless, it looks safe enough to setup some sort of guardhouse. However, there is a minor issue, it seems to already have company. I decided to take liberty for the time being and seal it shut. We know of it now, but we are not ready whatsoever to take those beasties on. If I caught a good enough glimpse, there were about 5 imps and a man of fire, and a fire snake.
On my way out of that cave, I noticed a glint in the wall. More copper!!! And it seems more convenient to reach too. But right now, I have more important things to worry about.
DAMN!!! Another ambush! This time we learned of it through Imush Ducimigam (Workedgorged) screaming from across the land. I'm calling all dwarves to get inside, see what can be done to stan
d guard. It turns out I forgot to call off a zone for clearing. We're now down another woodsdwarf. As well, we lost Rigoth. Now he'll try possessing someone else to make puzzles.
It... it.. it, it is.... ... Useless... Milord, we have failed you. With the very last ounce of strength within me, I implore you to send in a rescue party, or a recovery party that
can make this project live on. I was fortunate to have sealed off everything within the figurehead post of the ship. I doubt any land-bound blood-lusting invader would dare
take on the challenge of climbing to such a height so precarious as that.
Please, send word to my old friend, Fikod "Scrooge" Kolemath (Wheeledbanded), that I am no more, and that I enjoyed her company. Knowing this could possibly happen, let her know that I wish her a happy life. As well, next time she gains the bravery to visit my grave, she'll gain the knowledge I did. My spirit will guide her. She'll have to do something about this.
We were Lucidinn the Sky of Diamonds, but we have lost our lusture. The notes I could gather within the time frame our within this capsule.
Let it be known that we have fallen during the Mid-Winter on the 29th of Moonstone, and with the last of my breath, the remainder of my existance, I fought off 3-6 more units. I don't recall them, for my eyes have covered with blood.
I'm in serious pain. My kidney is punctured. My hip is broken, as is my spirit. M
y head is in incredible pain. I have failed you milord, I don't believe we can last whatsoever. Zas, I failed you as your protecter, then again, you seemed safe still... happy, despi
te the fact that our halls will please Armok, due to the mass volume. I guess it's not a total loss.
Everyone has been broken except for Zas; that kid is indwarven. He'll make an excellent adventurer someday. He'll do us, and his father proud. His hunting blood, my inventiveness, what remains of our supplies. The ship will make for a fine hideout until you decide to continue our endeavor.
Milord, please take care of my cave falcon (our messenger); he's a dear friend. I'm sure she'll miss me. Let her know I put a nest atop the copper spire when I was observing. I'm sure she'd like it.
I'm... tired. I----
