That first one sounds like it could be Star Ruler 1 or 2

no it wasnt Star Ruler, it wa something far older but i only learned about it from old web articles listing some cool but not so popular space based RTS games. SR 1 gets it somehow but in this one the structures engulfed the whole planet instead of having having orbitals and the like.

EDIT:

nevermind, i think i found them

-Conquest: Frontier Wars
-Paraworld

What was that rather old (early 200X) civilization 3 look-alike with a (futuristic pilot?) face(s) on it's cover?

I'm trying to remember some indie adventure game that I don't have on Steam. I remember there was an election where one of the candidates is low-key Rob Ford and the other one is also corrupt. I think you have to repair a car at some point. I think the graphics were top down indie style, like it was a somewhat old-school adventure game where you have to get things and then bring the things elsewhere to solve puzzles and advance. I think it starts out and there's an alleyway outside a casino or something but it's not in chronological order.

I'm looking for a sci-fi game I played like 3 years ago. It's pretty much the basic space rpg indie game. Shoot pirates, trade stuff, etc. The distinctive feature is the people. You have relatives (decided randomly during char generation). You can do things like asking to borrow a ship from someone you are friends with, get quests to spy on people, etc. You also have a job (which you can advance by sucking up to your contacts). I don't remember much tbh.

This is probably a long shot but wanted to try my chances here anyway.

I'm not sure if there was a way to play it 3 years ago, but Star Traders: Frontiers sounds vaguely like what you're describing. It's been on kickstarter for a long long time so it's possible some alpha or something was available back then.

Sounds vaguely like Sol Trader, but your description matches a number of indie games.

Hey, wait a damn second! that's my face in that there avi! I forgot for a second yoink shopped that up forever ago and I got slightly freaked out for a second lol. I'm glad my face is entertaining enough to represent folks around here.

Anyway, I've got one stumping the hell outta me. It was an first person adventure game on the N64, where the intro/first level was your character attempting to escape a jail or a house arrest type situation. In retrospect, it reminds me a lot of those might and magic games on the PC forever ago. But I have no clue what it is! I distinctly recall there wasn't any combat - at least in the level i remember - mostly puzzle solving.

Huh, I didn't know Shadowgate got a sequel!  I'd only seen the NES and Mac versions which were essentially the same game, but 64 is a new story.  Neat.

Oh wow, that'd be kinda horrifying for me!  Though I did un-post my selfy a while back.

wow, that game looks like hot garbage! Definitely the one I remember though. I wonder if there's one of those neat fixes, like for the more popular n64 games, where you can pump up the resolution and framerate. I'll definitely look into that.

There is also a Shadowgate 2014 which is a remake of the Mac/NES Shadowgate.
