Seawalls?

Well, as the topic name says, how about seawalls?
As in, you build a bridge out into the water, but you can't build blocks on the sea floor, even if it's 1 Z-level down form there. you can only try to build walls on the Z-level above the water.
So how about an order to 'sink' a wall? Like a window, a pre-built wall that the dwarf drops off the edge and down it goes.
My idea was you could section off bodies of liquid, then pump it dry. Such as in the middle of an ocean/sea or a river.

Or a troubling aquifer. I like this idea.

Its fully something that would be possible with the "technology" that the Dwarves, or Humans even, would possess. So yeah, its a good idea.

I was going to ask for something similar.

At least I want my dwarves to be able to build downward like building downward stairs or walls from higher positions instead of relying on building them from already built upward stairs.

This combined with the aquifer-pumping trick could make it possible to build into a lake or ocean from the top of it.

Building a wall from above and to the side - similar to how you can dig a channel from above and to the side - would be very useful, at least to stop accidental channel floods and sectioning off the aquifer.
