Stock monitors
« on: November 10, 2007, 12:16:00 am »

Can I possibly be the only one who's stopped brewing because my fortress of 15 dwarves had about 200 units of drink, only to later notice that all my dwarves have blue down-arrows?

I think it'd be really nice to be able to set monitors on particular stocks - possibly a duty of the Bookkeeper(automatic early on, needing attention at or above 20 population, like work orders for the Manager) - that would display a message when a particular stock went below(or maybe above) a certain threshold. This would be especially nice if it could be set for a type of stock, for instance, using the same hierarchy as is available in the Stockpile menu. That way, I could get a message whenever I have less than, oh... 2 units of drink per dwarf(not a dynamic scale; I mean I'd keep the threshold set at that).

My guards need something better to do than make my nobles happy with hugs and justice.

This would be a nice thing, having a notification for when stocks dip below a certain level...  be even nicer if you could get simple if/then and manager orders, since then you could do something like this:

[ON:STOCKS:ALCOHOL:BELOW:200]
IF::[STOCKS:PLANT:ATLEAST:30]::[ORDER:MANAGER:BREW:50]
IF::[STOCKS:BREWABLEPLANT:LESSTHAN:30]::[NOTIFY:"Low Alcohol & Plant!"]
[/ON]
