Deity and relationships

When you select a deity, how about it shows all the worshipers or that deity in your current fort?

I like this idea quite a bit.  Being able to easily see more relationship stats would be a great way to have more immersion.  Especially since there's always that one really cool Diety that you can't help but support.

I think a lot could be done with dietys, like a "church" building with a "vicar" profession, who generates happy thoughts for dwarves with the same god and converts those with others.
Course, it would be another irritating and non-productive job, but how cool would it be to have the pope as one of your nobles?

Well, there are already priests. Presumably you could add in a priest of a particular deity when you have worshippers of that deity. If your fortress continues to grow a high priest could move in.

I agree with the church idea.
Being able to choose which deity the church worships would give you a good way to convert your Dwarfs to a specific religion..  Although it doesn't matter now, maybe having a certain % of your population supporting one specific deity could confer happiness bonuses or something?

"Being able to choose which deity the church worships would give you a good way to convert your Dwarfs to a specific religion"

I don't know... a lot of Dwarf Fort is kinda Pantheonistic...

Railroading it so that the only benefit is to have just one religion makes me feel like some great features will be lost down the road.

And what about atheists?  Build an altar to Necoho?

Well, if Graves had to be consecrated to one god or another, it would make unifying the fortress more worthwhile, or festivals where one day of the year all dwarves of that religion party, but otherwise I've got nothing.
It just seems a shame that the lungfish god of death and theft gets more adoration than the female-dwarf god of productivity and not having tantrums. Or too many parties.
