I am sure I saw this one before, but I dont see it on the last several pages.

But now that we have clay soil, and have always had waste heat from smelters and forges, it seems like dwarves would be a natural for making pottery.

Making pottery barrels would be great! It would also allow pottery crafts. And it could be used to make blocks, or bricks, that can be used for building and roads.

I dont think it would work for bins tho, as it would break too easily.

Hmmm, Pottery Barrels would be a good idea...but if you have to use a kiln or whatever it is, you'd end up using Wood anyway to make them. Of course, if you have coal or magma, then its fine. Perhaps you could make 2 pottery barrels per 1 wood burnt.
