I fully support Fenrir and Armok in their immature RPing and not taking their haters seriously.  And if you don't get the interface upgraded in the next year, remember... losing is fun.

As I see it, this suggestion is pretty redundant anyway for the following reasons:
1. Toady is slowly but surely allowing all items to be represented by graphical tiles if we want.
2. Other people can make pretty sweet looking graphics sets. I don't use them myself, but this is because I do not wish to use them until everything is able to be made into graphics.
3. Proper graphics will have to wait until png with transparency is introduced, if ever. I believe Toady did show some interest in this happening.

As a side note, I would also like the viewport to have a configurable number of tiles, and for the game to support larger tiles.

^This. Actually, the UI in general could use a rehaul.

I can live with ASCII for now (tilesets clear things up a lot), but I'd like to see full graphical support in the future. I really have no attachment to the ASCII style (in b4 Fenir and Armok whining).

Please try to keep yourselves in order.  ASCII defenders, don't be disruptive.  Torak, you didn't have to chime in three days later in that fashion.  I can't count on one hand the number of times you've jumped into a thread like that, and I've warned you before.

This would be pretty neat.
