Cleaning all that blood and vomit and mud...
« on: November 12, 2007, 10:01:00 am »

Easy as 1-2-3!
Needs a bucket, and water source, like medical.
then [d] clean [C], then drag an area you want cleaned.
A dwarf with cleaning skill, shall go, get water, and clean one square.
Soap + water = 3x3 of clean.

Then those miles of blood and vomit and mud will vanish given sufficient water, buckets, and dwarves.

How's that for an idea?

Only thing I think it needs, is can only be done to "floor", "Wall", "ramp/stair" aka NOT normal ground or grass... unless you really wanted to punish the dwarves perhaps...

This is what the cleaning task does.   It just doesn't do it very well.

I was pretty sure blood, vomit, and mud were very much ingrained in the Dwarven way of life.    :p

The current problem is, that even when EVERY DANG JOB IS TURNED OFF! they may (or far more likely) may not do anything about it.

with a [d] designation, it'd be toggleable, and then it could have higher priority without making it overly disruptive to average fortress function. Not like those partying dwarves have anything better to do anyway   :p

After all, my fortress is effin filthy, and I got 20+ peasants doing a combination of jack and squat.

I like the designation option, if only so I could clean outside.  Inside my fortress is pretty clean, actually.

Pray hard then, that no one bleeds on your floor. Just one Kobold... and a pair of boots to trod upon it... and your delicate engravings, your cyan colored floors, your pristine white bridges, all basted with a dash of blood!

Actually, no. My fortress, once you get past the small entry level that the cleaners refuse to clean (or, alternately, clean too slowly to matter), is pretty much pristine. Blood from the barracks gets cleaned up within a season or so. I have two or three dwarves devoted purely to cleaning and refuse hauling, though.
