Well... I'm liking this very much...
Do we set on a roguelike then? to avoid the need of artists and graphic libraries handling? (that may or may not be a pain in the ass
)
narakal: That's good enough for me. Your knowledge of random maps may be EXTREMELY useful. I've never attempted a random map generator. And as you say, the most important thing is the will to learn.
deadlycairn: We will obv check other people's code and, if needed, give our opinions or propose changes. Always constructively.
Curses is a library that you can use in any C++ compiler. But, yes, we should get you up to date with the curses library if we are going to use it.
Never mind if you're busy sometimes. The most important thing is to plan the project efficiently and be consistent (even though we may have a slow work rate)
Psyco Jelly: that's great. every team needs a manager, it can definetly be a good trait and you can help with ideas and design.
shengii: As far as I know... Java and c++ are not THAT different. Obv, java handles memory wrapping and other stuff automatically but taking care of that will be a good challenge.
I made some project for college in pascal... but they were very badly planned and I had to spend 85 % of the project's time patching things up. We are going to avoid that by making a good design.
TEMP LIST:
- Alexhans (c++, curses)
- narakal (c++, curses)
- deadlycairn (c++)
- Psyco Jelly (organizing, managing, logging)
- shengii (java, c++)
Also... what compilers do you guys use? (besides deadlycairn who uses DEV)
I'm reading a book on software construction that may come in handy...
