I think it's meant to be a demonstration of "pulling the sword from the stone" in a way that uses smarts instead of being strong as fuck and breaking it. It probably ties into some other themes that I can't think of right now.

A general reminder to the shippers: John and Roxy haven't known each other for even a full day. It would be a little rushed if stuff started happening.

Also: In the timeline where LOWAS exploded, the LOWAS John and Roxy are on is going to be placed there/are already there, and Timeline-Native (Not the one with John.) Roxy will probably be killed by a game construct (Likely Nix.), seeing as to the context her choice was made.

I have a feeling the timeline where LOWAS will end up will have already had the GrimBark-CrockerTier'ening happen, but Roxy would have been dead for months and John for three years.

-Dave/John is present in over 1/10 of all the homestuck fics on AoOO, and is by far the biggest pairing (over 1000 more fics than the runner-up, Kanaya/Rose).
-All of the top four pairings involve a Strider in some way; 3 of them involve Dave.
-Most of the pairings with very high numbers involve a Strider, with 8 of the 13 pairings with over 100 fics involving one of them.
