This bodes well
« on: July 30, 2009, 01:29:21 pm »

I've been running an experiment fort to see how high a population I can get on births alone, a sort of post-apocalyptic dwarftopia.  They've just gotten the pop high enough to start making artifacts... and the first one I get looks like this.

... and it was made by one of the *children.*  I'll have to keep a close eye on that one.

A bone bed menacing with spikes?

Sounds comfortable enough for a noble :3

Wait, you're only increasing fortress population with natural births?

I think that child is trying to tell you something with that bed.

The *dwarven* name of the fort is Siknuglemis Roderustosagakalak.

Damned if I can find anywhere in the fort where that's translated into common though, and I don't feel like looking a bongler like that up right now.

It's Dwelling something... Name is long enough to slide behind the date.

The words directly translated mean:

Dwelling-vines Bald-anger-anus-ace

But of's, and's, and hyphens aren't actually represented, so its unclear if or where they fit in. It's probably

Dwellingvines the Bald Anger of Anusace

Oh dear, it just got worse... my dedicated fisherdwarf just got posessed, and made this.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'm not sure whether I should be afraid, or if I should want to be buried in that thing myself...

I was able to reconstruct it as "Dwellingvines the Bald Angry Anus-Ace".

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

That's... possibly the best random name I've ever gotten.
