*Drool*

It's basically a meta-game, MMOSS, MMO Space Sim.

You fly your ship, and fly to planets with seamless entry and exit. Sadly, no FPS or walking around planned.

This, is, awesome. Hands down. It's still in Pre-Alpha, and it will probably kill computers at a discount price, but still. It's... just... I can't describe. Follow the link. I hope this follows through on it's promise.

If it does follow through, which I'm really hyped about, then this may be the new era of awesome. I'm totally watching the dev of this.

Holy--

I haven't seen THAT video before!

I'm picturing epic asteroid battles and spaceship wreckages made of awesome.

Man, video games have the best technology.

If only there were an FPS segment planned.. But they say there'd be problems due to one sole thing; Perma-death. There'd be no REALISTIC way to resolve this.

In spaceships, your ship blows up and you get away by escape pod. But FPS supposedly, one shot to the head you're toast. I atleast hope there will be an option to get out and just enjoy the scenery/hike up the mountains.

There was a combat test that ran for a while. The controls and ships were all cool and intuitive. There was nothing funner than creating a faux-orbit around larger ships while peppering them with laser fire.

Aye, my favorite one was the cargo ship. It cost almost nothing to pick and I could just Kamikaze the people who saved up money.

Yeah, it was from there that I learn't about dwarf fortress.
Regarding the fps issue, the main problem is actually the artwork. Doubling the amount of art assets required for something that has little actual gameplay value isn't worth it before release. There is still the expansion possibility, however.

I'm sure they'll worry more about making it run good on hardware when they get anywhere near completion. At this point it's hard to call the game even an alpha :P

Oh there'll be optimization of course. Or else it'd crash even the best of computers. Like some sort of rendering code with LOD.

Anyhow, it's pre-freaking alpha, and it looks playable, and the graphics are great.

The combat simulator is alotta fun. I really like how multiple gunned ships work, basically the guns do the tracking themselves, and you do the shooting. I really reaaally want to be able to fly one of the carriers.

I'm confused - will this game be eventually released on CD, or will it remain online?

Either way, it looks awesome.

Downloading the combat simulator now, but I think my computer might die.  Oh well, I'll have a go anyway.

My computer has 1 gig RAM and 3ghz CPU, so it should be able to run.  Not sure about my video card though.
