Auditors should get mischievous also, so they pull levers.  Vermin that pull levers.  Wonderful.

But that would be interfering; that's against the rules.

They can interfere as long as they can justify it; remember, they're cosmic bureaucrats to the extreme.

Remember their reasoning for the whole Thief of Time debacle? "We just wanted to freeze everything in the universe so we can catch up on the paperwork." This meaning they want to take apart paintings to find the beauty in them, presumably to jot it down in the cosmic records.

How about they could 'move' the Pull the Lever job from one Lever to another Lever?

Or spontainiously 'create' Pull the Lever jobs.

All of these could cause wholesale destruction.

Considering there's only three of them - well, in material form - Maybe they should be a megabeast... which acts as vermin. They only leave if you die, or they get bored.

From a DF playing perspective, if Auditors (or anything else) did start messing about with levers, randomly, everyone would be building their triggers to require specific multiple lever pulls (in sequence or otherwise, with some form of lever-activated logic behind them) for a task, to safeguard the Self-Destructitron method from being activated premeturely...

All of these could cause wholesale destruction.

That's kind of the whole point.

Auditors are rare, but lethal.

Loudly.

And it probably involves rocks somehow.
