AntiNULF Mod
« on: August 28, 2009, 12:46:44 pm »

NULF stands for Nemesis Unit Load Failure. Why the mod is called so is explained below, in the fifth spoiler.

Lizardmen mod by Poil and parts of Primative civs mod by Mephansteras.

You did ask them both permission to use their mods right? And if you did, you should post it in this thread here.

My post was initially meant for "Random mods you've done" thread, so no. In this case, I believe, it is fair enough to simply credit the authors. Why I later decided this to be a new topic is only because I believed it was important to tell about the way to circumvent the nemesis bug.
As for "getting rid of gobbos", I did not do that.

Fair enough. For some wierd reason I got it into my head that you got rid of goblins, I'm crazy. I would download this mod, but I've never had the "NULF" error.

From what I heard NULF error is caused by moving/copying/deleting your savegames while DF is running. So don't do this and you won't get that error.
Also there is a fix if you have an older save without that error.

I had this error only once, and imho no point of removing several elements of the game to get rid of something that rare.

No it does not. Another myth. I always force-close DF (by killing process).

"Rarity" of the bug
« Reply #7 on: September 04, 2009, 05:03:08 am »

I do get the bug every time I play DF without modding. No force closing and no fiddling with savegames (well, yearly auto-save is on, but nothing more). All I have to do is start a fortress and play for 9-10 years, then abandon, create an adventurer and try to enter some friendly city, and then bam! Nemesis Unit Load Failed!

The bug does not occur if I play for a short duration, and I presume this has something to do with diplomacy, as elven towns seem to be affected not every time (elves rarely send diplomats).

Should go post this in bugs section then.

P.S. As for removing features - sure, the mod's purpose was to cure the bug by doing that, but also to offer replacement. Otherwise it would not be worth posting.
