Use Alt-PrntScrn, it only takes a screenshot of the active window.

If you're on Vista or Win7, there's a snipping tool (or is it clipping? i forget) under start>programs>accessories (or just search).

You can grab the entire screen, individual windows, or any arbitrary area (drag a rectangle), then directly save it to bmp, jpg, or png (maybe more). I think you can add simple marks with a highlighter tool as well, it's been a while since i used it.
