Oh, dear.  If we get into the difference between substance and accidents we could be here all night.  :P  On a slightly different track, though, suffice to say that word labels derive their power entirely from common agreement; if people generally call the image of a pipe a pipe, then it is a pipe.  Physical, three-dimensional pipes might be different from two-dimensional images of pipes, but if they're both generally referred to as a "pipe", then they are both pipes, even if they aren't the same "thing" ontologically.  At least that's how I view it.


On topic, however, the Cave Swallowman shall never be made into a cyborg.  Mostly because humanoid cyborg implants wouldn't work too well on a bird head.  ;D
