Just made cookies
« on: September 06, 2009, 08:00:47 pm »

I bought some of the pre-made cookie dough, and I just made my first batch of cookies in a LONG time. They were oh so delicious, if slightly burnt.

I still wonder though, if I would have been better off just eating the dough.

Depends if they were crunchy or chewy cookies.

If chewy, then cooking them was the right move.
Crunchy cookies deserve to stay in dough form.

They come in different forms!?

Deal! Shove it into your modem, and once I get it, I'll send you the cookies.

Well, the instructions specify that I pre-heat the oven, and then pop the premade dough in for 10-12 minutes, then take out and allow to cool.

Pretty easy, actually.

There are a number of simple cooking things that can go very very bad.

In particular, at home, all our attempts at making desserts usually end up quite bad.

Well, no wait: we have actually managed to make pretty good cake (through sometimes it is ruined as well, and ends up too dry, or syrupish).

Well, I hope your cakes do better in the future.

Cake is easy, 2 ounces/pounds* of butter sugar and flour per egg. Mix the sugar and butter add the egg then the flour than bake in the oven on gas mark 6/equivalent electric oven value. And if you want chocolate cake then just switch about a sixth of the flour for cocoa powder.

* I can't remember the unit, mainly because on my electric scales it just comes up with the number and I don't use imperial measurements that much so use which ever one sounds reasonable

Some flat bread, with some tomato paste, then some cheese, and then whatever else I want on it.

I have a rough idea of how brownies work. Even if I didn't make 'em, my sisters make enough of them to feed you all.

But yes, chewy cookies are superior to crunchy in all and every way.
