Chromie Learns to Read (fixed)

What the title says. I went to fiddle around beefing up goblins, but the objects files had no extensions. When I opened them they were gibberish. The game plays fine though, I'm a little confused.

This was a fresh 'download the latest version' DF too -- I wanted to keep modded and unmodded separate.

I downloaded a graphical packaged and premodded DF from the File Depot too, and it had the same problem. Is it me? What am I doing wrong?

Was the objects folder in 'raws' or 'data'? you need the folder in 'raws', the 'data' folder one is full of the compiled files, created when you start DF, and will be gibberish when opened in a text editor.
