=How to Participate=

* Draw as much as possible, and post as much as possible. Whether quick sketches, a fully completed piece, or a work-in-progress, we want to see it. All styles, methods, materials, subjects, and techniques are welcomed.
* Browse the posts and offer critique when people are asking for it!
* Offer new links to add to the resource list...

-Getting Critique-
Generally, it is best to describe the difficulty you may be having with a piece, so that you can focus the members' advice on the elements which you are working on. For example: You draw a dwarf, but you'd like the image to show more depth. Note this in the post and we will focus on that specific problem.

Try to describe which effects you are trying to achieve as clearly as possible.

It is also important not to take critique personally, even if it is poorly given. Remember that it is difficult to gauge someone's intonation through text alone.

-Giving Critique-
Always be as constructive as possible with critique; that is, when identifying a weakness, give a possible solution as often as possible.

Try to identify which elements/techniques work/fail and state why.

Embrace divergent styles. Difference is good, try to understand what the person is aiming for and gauge the usefullness of your critique against that. Example: saying a piece lacks proper shading, when it is done in a more cartoonish style, is not so useful. However, a bit of advice about line-weight may be very beneficial to the poster.

=Ongoing Project(s)=

Requirement(s)
Engraver must have made reasonable attempt at rendering, including full shading and at least a stab at texture. No unfinished sketches.

Reward
Participants completing this assignment will achieve the guild rank Apprentice, becoming true members of the +Engravers Guild+. Current apprentices will gain rank.

I have a few projects on the go so I might not post too much art (to begin with, at least), but I wholeheartedly pledge my support to this endeavor.

I would WANT to join, but I might not be able to justify sending time on art every day... or every week... or every month...
Maybe some reservation, half-membership could work for me?

To make it clear that there are some people planning to post something, I'll promise at least a start and see where it takes me.  I've been wanting to really practice drawing for ages, but never had the will to do it.  Committing to a schedule could help.

That said, I can't start today.  Also, it will be nothing but monochrome MSPaint drawings.

I'm glad to see we've got some interest :D

Even just 10 minutes or so a day sketching can be valuable practice.

Rashilul: It's all about improvement - the best you can do will get better with a little determination. Anyone who wants to improve should participate, thats where all the energy will hopefully come from.

Aqizzar: MS paint drawings are perfectly acceptable.

Davion: Added your links to the list. I actually have the Dynamic Figure Drawing book somewhere... I haven't looked at it in a long time, but I can vouch for it's quality.

Everyone else who is definitely in: Lets start thinking of some ideas for prompts, weekly projects et cetera...

I would join if I could get my dad to help set up my computer to interface with the networked printer/scanner.

However, it's connected directly to the network...

I just have to say, it's some really odd timing you have here with making this thread.  I have just recently taken to doing random sketches everyday during my lunch period.  Most of them aren't really dwarf-related, though.  I can easily make it so, however, as one of the things I thought I'd practice is perspective with humanoids and creatures (something I'm not as good at as, say, perspective with inanimate objects).
