I'm painting up an army of pirate/salvage fleet Tau (Warhammer 40k) and I needed to come up with some suitably alien-looking graphiti for the tanks and battlesuits.



I'm not sure how well these work but I kinda like them.

Anyway, Fault, great picture there, the silihoutte is somehow distinctly recognisable as something you made, I can almost see the ink lines and round eyes on it, great work.

funny thing is, I painted that a while before I developed the "black outlines w/ blank white eyes" style I often work with now.

And even now I tend to use a slightly different style when working with paint now anyways.
Good to know my art is recognizeable, though.

Well, I finally got to properly work on something tonight, I'll post what I've done so far, yes, the green head is of a goblin, with a mohawk, but I haven't properly shaded or coloured it yet, so it looks.... Odd. If there's anything EXTREMELY wrong with it so far, tell me before I finish it and realize, would be appreciated.

I am distinctly reminded of NIGHT ELF MOHAWK, but otherwise it looks like it's shaping up to be an awesome picture.

I guess so, I don't know how to draw it, the whole mountain kind of displeases me. Can you comment on the actual main part of the picture?

I very much like it ... I think the foreground of the picture works VERY well, that almost looks like a 'touched-up' 3D render .. the lighting / volume / shapes look VERY good there.

I think the middle bit of the picture is good, love the little people (alright goblins) hiding away, and I like the concept/composition, but (really don't want to sound negative, more try and offer a thought or two) I think maybe the moonlight is a bit wrong on the rocks. Like maybe it should get duller as you go further in the cave, or something. Or some 'fog' as you go back through the cave. Can't really comment as I'm no expert, but I think there should be some sort of variability there.

Considering the standard of the rest of the picture, the mountain maybe looks rushed? I know I am extremely tempted to rush bits of painting as I get further in ... I also struggle to do 'low detail' bits well.

All in all I like it and I want to see more ... that's my two cents ...

EDIT: I did something new, I had a first attempt at realism and painting a face, it it is a little rushed (done in 20-30 minutes)

Thanks for that, and I know the mountain's weird, I just didn't have a clue how I would paint it. And the moonlight does dull quite a bit.

And I ought to start using reference pictures. I don't use any at the moment.
