Red Fortune: the eyes are a bit fuzzy, and the hair isn't doing much for me.
But the specularity in the skin is delightful. And all your shapes and scales seem spot on.

I haven't even tried to do realistic faces... they scare the living daylights out of me.
Maybe I'll get around to it eventually.

But good for a first try no? I impressed myself, particularly checking the time after I had done it.

Still stumped on drawing ideas, after venturing for a critique on /ic/ on 4chan (have no idea why I tried in the first place) I feel kinda shot down for motivation.

EDIT: I did something new, I had a first attempt at realism and painting a face, it it is a little rushed (done in 20-30 minutes)

OH GOD IT'S HORRIBLE.

-Good critique-
Thanks for that, and I know the mountain's weird, I just didn't have a clue how I would paint it. And the moonlight does dull quite a bit.
That looks like a photo! (of a very ugly person)

It certainly looks amazingly realistic for a first try. I'm no artist, so the only thing I can say is that her left eye (the one on the right) seems slightly misshapen. Reference pics will probly clear that up, and otherwise, good work!

I kind of liked how this turned out, so I thought I'd cross-post it here. The other place being, of course, the fanart thread.

Lines done quick and messy with the GIMP ink tool. I think I like having them all wavy, shaky and different widths.

Something I am working on ... any critique welcome ...

I think I am going to call it:

When I sat down today, being home from work due to a nasty cold, I find that my sketchbook is filled. Again. Naturally, I look through my other sketchbooks to see if I can find at least a single page to doodle/draw on. Nothing.

Given that I have to draw at least 10 minutes every day, I realize that I'll just have to bite the bullet and use my tablet. I don't use it very often since I don't like it, but 10 minutes are 10 minutes, and I figure practice with it might even get somewhere.

I didn't get anywhere, but for being a fairly quick sketch (one thing I do like about digital drawings are that you can work in layers and it's so much cheating but damn you can get a clean sketch) I'm satisfied. If I wanted to continue I'd probably clean up the lines somewhat, and the face/hair area needs reworking; after that I'd start working on shadows, of which there should be plenty in this model (given the POV is slightly above her).

Oh yeah, and it's NSFW, if nudity is an issue. (also, silly me for not defining a larger area to work with)

The program I use is called "Paint Tool SAI", which is probably my favourite program to use when doing simple stuff. It's not as realistic as Corel Painter (which I also like), but if you know you're not gonna put down too much time/effort on something, SAI works well enough.

Oh yeah, I also found one of my old hand guides (saved from god knows where). Beware, it's fairly long and in Japanese - but maybe the illustrations can help some.

tl;dr: azazel hates working with tablets, posts failed sketch to explain why

Also, I can't draw breasts. Hands and breasts (and feet) are God's joke on mankind.

I don't know, I think I've had better luck with such things.
The hands and feet are hard for me too.

Here's something I drew where I just decided to leave them out:

Not my best, but I'm sort of proud of the proportions.
It only took a few hours,
and I permanently saved the underlying pose-able skeleton for future endeavors.
I'm very proud of the way the shoulders/collar bone/armpits/chest work.

Any criticism?

EDIT:
Also, my Gf designed the dress on scratch paper.
The back of it is somewhat amazing.
Too bad it was incompatible with my drawing.

yeah man, hands are hard to draw.

I had to read a big load of anatomy books to get the shape right, and I still have to stare at my own hand for awhile if I'm trying to draw a hand in a different position.
