I had a similar discussion about the ego of Americans with my dad during a World Cup game after a work day that almost prevented my visit. Kinda popped in there out of the blue; but it was basically along the lines of admitting how arrogant we are that our World Series/Cups only involve the entirety of America, and only that, whereas in the soccer/football game, it actually involves the whole fucking world. I can sympathize with just how annoyed the rest of the world is with us in that regard, and how we're still imposing things to our tiny universe of our country that is quite flat of a world, onto everyone else. Our contribution to wars and such aren't so helpful under this light, either. Not to mention, check our education system. No international languages being learned, we're teaching Ghetto-English to everyone else, instead, that doesn't speak our language.
It was actually quite insightful, and felt like I got a good weight off my shoulders. I'm just bothered by our overall arrogance as Americans. But then again, I also have been doing work where I have to deal with such annoying and arrogant people (mostly rich, and socially upstanding (like CEOs, and people who can invest in the Real Estate market), customers and such that can afford our service at full-potential, and then some; Rich people are the cheapest and rudest shmucks I've ever had to deal with in all my jobs, regardless if I'm cleaning up houses or carpets, or serving food. Why is that? What money are you really losing? Only occasionally (and not at all common in the least), do I feel that one or two I encounter, I feel actually deserve what they have, and are actually really cool people.) all the freaking time, so I guess I was also venting my frustrations with the customers I deal with at the same time.
BTW, I prefer cake over pie.
