I've never actually dated someone, even though there is someone who I would like to. I probably wouldn't want to tell my mother about it, either. Dad's fine, because he has a brief moment of "way to go, champ" and then gives the usual parental lectures about sex and whatnot. Mom skips that part and starts teasing and acting like you're going to marry the date-ee.

That's what I've observed from back when my brother was still dating, anyway. Like I said, I've never done it, because I don't really give a damn.

You need to start early if you're going to construct a proper rube goldberg machine of appropriately violent courtship qualification, though. It takes time for the ostriches to reach full maturity, and imports are no good.

That's the exact same as my mum and dad.

Minus the talk on sex. I didn't know that was usual, but thank God my parents have never tried to talk to me about sex.
