I found that dogs only have about three emotional states:

Food?!

My family's dog has two:
1) I DEMAND THAT YOU PLAY WITH ME HERE IS MY BALL
2) YOU'RE PLAYING YAY GIVE ME THE BALL MY BALL YOU CAN'T HAVE IT YOU'RE PLAYING YAY

No hungry, no tired, no want to go outside and pee states. Just pre-play and mid-play. Not even a post-play, he just goes back to pre-play.

My dog:
1) Not currently receiving attention, therefore unloved
2) Jealous of the other dog
3) HOLY SHIT DID SOMEONE SAY "WALK" / GET WITHIN 3 FEET OF THE CAR KEYS?
4) AAAAAH THERE ARE FIREWORKS
5) Asleep

#4 can result in getting buried by scared dogs climbing on whoever's sitting nearby. Scared, large dogs ::)

2. You've stopped giving me attention, give me attention.

Repeat 2. until gone.
