@earlier convo I always saw it as an expression of a stereotype. When someone says "weeb" they don't think of someone reasonably well adjusted that's interested in japanese culture and products, they imagine that kid in their high school that naruto ran everywhere and saved up his lunch money to buy a katana. When someone says "furry" they're not thinking about someone who works for a living and uses that culture to express themselves, they think of the "on all levels except physical I am a wolf" kid. etc. etc. It's an overblown thing because people usually have one stand out example in their head that fits that certain stereotype, that's just how it works.

Don't I know it. I often wonder how great booksmiths smith their books. I'm currently writing my own at the moment, but with no formal training my stumbling blocks are the most basic of things like structure, and I can't help but think it's riddled with incompetencies.

Booksmith makes me think of someone forging a book, like, I'm not a saw smith, as I will be purchasing rolls of spring steel already cooked up, but as I'll be cutting and shaping the plates and crafting my own handles I am indeed a saw wright.

Which is different from a saw wight, such as those summoned by a saw lich like Sawron™ and his ilk.
