Played through a concert. A whole bunch of unexpected things happened, but the show went on and we earned our encore through the difficulties.

Played what, as a drummer "a whole bunch of unexpected things" might mean I just went all Neil Peart suddenly.

Also found several proper steel hinges that I need to derust some but which will be much better for my metal bending rig once I get them set up. Decided to dig around through one of the tins we have in the little mini-garage behind the washer/dryer and noticed a big tin with huge carriage bolts had some flat pieces of metal visible underneath, so yay at unexpectedly solid hinges!

How is this not a fantasy mainstay owls are goddam terrifying and cute.

I'm not sure how much of a mainstream fantasy series it is, but have you ever read the Guardians of Ga'hool series? It's about owls. Sentient, adorable, and badass owls.

I've only read the first three books of the series, but they were pretty enjoyable.

I always found the word Ga'Hoole to sound inherently silly.
Like its a euphemism for something.

The movie was pretty bad though. Can't compare it to the books as I haven't read them, but... Yeah. Bad.

What was that sci-fi shooter flash game with all the text logs and journal entries ranting about the owls and hooting? Actually a fairly decent game, despite the fact that the shotgun was a carousel of fuckups.

Like, it's your traditional "effective range of 5 feet, projectile spread of 50 degrees" scattergun, but you could enhance its damage by... uggh... upgrading to FMJ rounds.

Just finished binging the new third season of Santa Clarita Diet. Damn, this show fills me with so much love.
It's honestly like a high. A television high. Probably the two greatest television (or motion picture in general) couples right there. The whole cast has phenomenal chemistry. Highly recommended, it's gotta be one of my favourite shows!

I agree, the show has surprisingly good comedic timing which had me laughing out loud a lot.  And the family relationships have that charming amount of "insincere hostility" which shows how strong their bonds really are.  It's adorable but in a mature way.

Also ridiculous hijinks and capers abound

It was for minimal distance to fertiliser production.
