I still back Shades of Grey, even if it's in a rather unusual, unique future setting as opposed to something historical, but I just realised I have a copy of The Chapman Report lying on the floor by my feet, waiting to be read. I only glanced through a couple of pages when I bought it so I can't vouch for its thrills or romantic content, but I think it's certainly got a fair bit of socio-political shenanigans goin' on.   

Shades of Grey ticks alllllll the boxes, though. Seriously, don't be put off by the title's similarity to a certain other... publication.
Get on it, it's great.

Political thriller? Try something by Ellroy, like American Tabloid or The Black Dahlia, if you like plot-heavy, terse, cynical stuff. A lot of it's set in the 1950s LA underworld, and the plots tangle with actual historical events and figures.

I am full of sushi, and ordered more than I could eat so I have sushi for breakfast or lunch tomorrow, depending on how ambitious I feel for yogurt and pop tarts before work.

I started the PiCAT Navy exam. Its ten parts, and if you do well enough in the first five, it let's you do the second half.

I'm on part seven and feeling veeeeery good about my answers so far.

I've been feeling down, but now I have donuts and am working on an application to work at a dog/cat shelter in Edinburgh. Donuts are good, working with animals is good. I have one and will hopefully have the other too.

Somewhere between happy and wtf, just had a kitten crawl up on my foot and hang on for a bit while I was walking around. Which is about as adorable as you'd think but also leads you to wonder what the tiny cat thinks it's doing.
