So I made big (for me) purchase: a new desk and a new chair. Much MUCH better and more stylish than the handmedown desk I had gotten from my aunt so many years ago, and now I have ACTUAL room to place my mouse and keyboard rather than everything being cooped up on a small 1x2ft surface area, and everything is so pleasantly ergonomic and at the correct positioned for usage, maybe I can even play TF2 without my shoulder cramping up!

Price: about $400; 200 each for the desk and chair. I'm thinking it'll be worth it. Spending any amount that isn't strictly necessary pinches my frugality nerve, but I was getting sick and tired of that old desk that was finally falling apart from the frequent and intense beatings I've given it over the years. I'll treat this one better, especially since it has a glass top!

TL;DR: Man is awed at minor luxury.

Now I'm contemplating what actually upgrading my entire living space might look like. Though anything I'd consider to be pretty nice incurs some big pricetags very quickly, and I don't have the income to be careless.

That's completely right. I think Joshua might have fallen into the "false economy" mindset, in terms of the utility of saving the money vs using it to improve quality of life. It can be a mistake to hold onto an old thing until it's completely useless on the basis that it's saving some money, if the limitations of the old thing completely outweigh the value of the savings. One reason it's hard to see the value of upgrading is that it's hard to estimate the "opportunity cost" of not upgrading until you have the new desk, in this case, and can go "wow this is so much more usable than my old desk".

Oh, I didn't mean "last inch" literally, I meant the last bit of effort needed to finish the exercise.

Hey, well done! Then you'll be happy to know that crunches/situps are now frowned upon by personal trainers and exercise scientists due to their risk of back injury combined with the small results from the effort put into doing them!

I bought a sonic brush, on the cheaper side.  But the thing feels amazing.

Where was it all my life?  I brush like 4 times a day, and I think I'm going to take it in the car with me to work.
