I own a house now. I got my key yesterday.

I didn't think I'd ever own a house, ever. I don't even know what to do.

Wonder how you accumulated so much stuff since your last move will be occurring soon.

I think tradition dictates leaving 75% of your stuff unpacked in boxes, laying face down on a couch, and not being motivated to finish moving for ~6 months.

My first home improvement endeavor was to put up curtains (for getting rid of the glare on the tv for video games).

My second home improvement endeavor was to fix the extra holes I drilled because I’m apparently incapable of drilling two holes in a vertical line in the wall.

Still pending, playing video games.

Good. I am surprised you find installing curtains exiting, though based on others' reactions to my posts on things, I seem to be an outlier on many things

Wait curtains?  I don't know what to say to all y'all richie riches over there.  I've had an old towel hanging off the metal bar over the window for at least 6 months.  Though I suppose that's why I rent and don't own.

I did that with an old shirt once, to block the specific source of glare.  Turns out that constant sunlight bleaches the fabric!  Makes me wonder whether certain of my favorite shirts used to be more vibrant.

I don't have glare problems right now, but I will again in a few months as Earth changes orbit.  Some proper curtains would be very nice.

Curtains are good for keeping the sun at bay while you're trying to sleep. Back, fiend!

I've always seen curtains and mini-blinds as a pain in the ass, so I duck taped black poster board over the window, so it blocks out all the light.

Note for people buying curtains who plan to have kids: certain types of blinds turn into improptu gallows for your toddler.

In the time since I've been unemployed, I've been so productive. I've been cleaning up my apartment like crazy, trying to think of how to arrange my crap for maximum space and utility, going through the garbage I've been leaving around to throw out the trash and keep the good stuff. I went through my bedroom, and the shit that's just been lying on my floor and in my closet has been literally untouched in something like 3+ years. With my job, I was wasting so much energy, that any time I had spent alone could have theoretically have been used to do these things, but my time was so precious I just wanted to use it all to unwind and just not THINK about my life, just try as hard as possible to keep my mind off how much I hated my life, so all my time got spent on games or anime or bullshit on youtube; my productive energies just aren't being wasted anymore, and I have to think about how I want to live, so that naturally leads to wanting to be cleaner and most productive.

Also, even though it's very cold out, I've been refraining from turning my heat on. The interior of my apartment is very chilly as a result, but I've been keep warm with my warmest and snuggliest clothing, and I just feel so comfortable. It's a little awkward to type with winter gloves on, but I'm managing just fine.
