I finally got some sleep after 1.5 nights of none. What'd I miss?

Entering the third month of quarantine and work furlough, my lunch is coffee, bacon, and pizza. I don't know if I can go back.

Happens every now and then though. Same thibg happened last november.

Ah.

Yes, one can count on the orbital mechanics to be periodic. To some extent at least. Like, last November the Moon wasn't full, so the whole shebang wasn't visible for the entirety of the night. And certainly not with the same bright, shadow-casting glory.
And sure, in the next few months similar conjunctions will happen again and again, but will less of the Moon being lit, and for a shorter span of the night (but the planets will be closer together).

The point is, one can certainly wait long enough and have the same pieces of the celestial chessboard arrange themselves in just about - but never quite - the same manner.
But will you be around to appreciate it? Or wouldn't the person you'll become have been enriched by seeing it now?

Because sights like this are just as transient and just as eternal as the grass growing in its green glory every year, or an attractive person passing you by and smiling.

Like the trees one climbs, the mountains one scales, the sand one steps on, the rivers one enters - they're the same but not ever the same, as those in the future.

So, hey. Look up. Today, tomorrow.
Think about the scale of what you're seeing. Your place in the world. The ephemeral beauty of it all.
