I gave my friend (the one who called me handsome) a new and legit MicroSD card for his camera. I'm being a little selfish here: it was exhilarating to see the camera actually be able to go up to 4K. It's inefficient as all hell (records in MJPEG, the fuck?), but it's worth the 2 hour record time if it means it'll actually record in crisp and clear 4K. Plus, it's legit, so it actually is a full 64 gigs. It won't corrupt recorded video over time like that goddamned fake one.

Randomly found this video of a young lad from Sweden building a log cabin singlehandedly, using only hand tools and a 1940s era tractor.
I found it to be a nice relaxing watch to pass some lockdown time.
The guy's perserverance is admirable.

Those tractors are workhorses, it is amazinginly conserved for the age. Wonder if it uses a perkins engine.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

Hoo, usb cassette player thing's, like. Working. Audacity's doing its thing. Sound's coming in pretty clean. Glen Miller's doing some authentic 1990 cassette tape swing, Girl in Kalamazoo into Tuxedo Junction, Basie's Dance of the Gremlins comin' after. Neat shit, these tapes are apparently nearing the end of their shelf life...

E: Y'know, I don't think I'd ever actually heard Miller's cover of Rhapsody in Blue. It's pretty good!

I'm feeling happy today for... some reason. I don't know why.

Slept well for the first time in what must be a few months. Weird waking up without feeling like death.

My mom insisted it was going to snow tonight.  Out of pure optimism.

It's raining water which will be ice tomorrow.  This is my home, this is how things go, and I love it.

We looked at the sky together - mostly clear with wispy clouds, and I doubted her saying snow.
And it it raining! Oh, it is raining, and the sound is so pleasant.

It was never going to snow, but this is better.  Sure it might be ice tomorrow, but tonight it is a lovely sound.

(Edit: raining men would be messy and unsexy.  I want them intact, please)

Standing outside when it's raining men sounds like a good way to get killed, ether by having one fall on top of you or by the pieces that come off of them when they go splat.

I mean, the terminal velocity of a human is around 200 km/h (124 mph), and cloud base height is at minimum 400m (1300 feet), so... that would probably be true.  An average male American human body would be traveling at around 31 m/s (110 km/h, 70 mph) if it were to fall from 400 meters. If that were a point mass (which is really moving into 'spherical cow' territory), that body would have 43 kilojoules of kinetic energy by the time it hit the ground. Enough for a nice splat, I'd say. At least, that's what I got from basing my calculations on a guess.

Cloud potential minimum height is just ground level, tho' (fog!), so it's conceptually possible for cloud originating manrain to not leave a horrible guro mess. It just wouldn't be much of a rain if you were going to avoid brusing and whatnot, heh. As anyone who's fell out of a bed or tripped and fallen can attest, it really does not take far at all to hurt a person.

Alternatively, no one ever says it has to be human men. Could be a bunch of slime boys falling from heaven; they go splat, sure, but they get better! Bonus(?) points you end up with a bunch of shapeshifters literally made of lube :V
